Born from Music

MPSOURCE was founded in 2000.

Its founder, Chris, grew up in a musical family and began learning piano at the age of five.

For him, before there was audio, there was first the sound of real musical instruments.

The weight and harmonics of a piano hammer striking the strings, the texture of a bow moving across violin strings, the natural resonance of a wooden instrument body, the bouncing sound of a drumhead after being struck by a drumstick, and the way music naturally extends and decays within a real acoustic space—all gradually became important references for evaluating audio reproduction.

After entering the audio industry, from equipment reviewing and loudspeaker development to sound tuning, Chris repeatedly returned to one question:

After passing through equipment, cables, and countless stages of transmission, how much of the original music can we still preserve?

That question became the starting point of MPSOURCE—and for more than two decades, it has never changed.

The Way of MPSOURCECan We Change the Music a Little Less?

More high frequencies do not necessarily mean greater realism.

More bass does not necessarily mean greater completeness.

A larger soundstage and greater resolution do not necessarily mean getting closer to the music.

Real music is complete.

That is why MPSOURCE does not pursue the creation of a fixed “house sound.” Instead, with every design, we continually ask:

What should be preserved?

What should not be changed?

What should actually step back?

We study materials, conductors, structures, directionality, transmission paths, connectors, and power.

But ultimately, every technology must return to the same standard:

Real music.

From Listening to Method

MPSOURCE technology does not begin with a theory and then search for sound to prove it.

It comes from more than two decades of repetition:

Build → Listen → Compare → Refine → Verify Again

Change the material. Listen again.

Change the conductor gauge and structure. Listen again.

Change the direction and transmission path. Compare again.

Because we understood very early:

A change does not necessarily mean an improvement.

What truly matters is not whether there is a difference, but:

Does that difference bring the music closer to the original—or take it further away?

These accumulated experiences ultimately formed the three interconnected core technologies of MPSOURCE.

The Three Core Technologies of MPSOURCE

For more than two decades, our products have continued to change, our materials have continued to evolve, and our technologies have continued to advance.

Ultimately, we summarized them into three core technological principles.

01 | Unified Directionality

Direction begins from the very first moment a conductor is formed.

MPSOURCE does not wait until a cable is finished before determining its direction.

Beginning with the formation of the copper material, through wire drawing, twisting, directional marking, layer-by-layer tracking, and system verification, we have implemented direction management within our own production facility and brought it directly into the manufacturing process. This is also something that the vast majority of other brands are unable to achieve.

Melting → Wire Drawing → Twisting → Verification → Final Stranding → Extrusion

Directionality does not exist only within a single cable.

From:

Power → Source / Preamplifier → Power Amplifier → Loudspeaker → Sound Reproduction

the entire system is established upon a consistent directional reference.

Unified Directionality establishes consistency in the direction of every individual copper strand.

02 | Directional Current Flow

Correct direction is only the first step.

After establishing Unified Directionality, we discovered something further:

Even when every conductor is correctly oriented, if it is not configured according to its role within the complete transmission path, the sound may still fail to reach the state we are truly seeking.

MPSOURCE therefore moved beyond “direction” and began studying the “path.”

The question is no longer simply:

Is this conductor facing the correct direction?

But rather:

Is its direction correctly configured according to its role within the complete transmission path? Live goes out; Neutral returns.

Beginning with power cables, this concept gradually extended to interconnects, speaker cables, digital cables, as well as RCA, XLR, Speaker Connectors, and more.

Because in the MPSOURCE philosophy:

The connector is also part of the transmission path.

Unified Directionality + Directional Current Flow establish consistency throughout the signal path.

Directional Current Flow also establishes order within the transmission path.

03 | Energy Balance

The true reference is the music itself.

Different insulating materials, conductor gauges, structures, and twist pitches can all produce different sonic characteristics.

But MPSOURCE does not pursue the unlimited exaggeration of any single characteristic.

High frequencies should not become sharp in the pursuit of resolution.

Midrange should not lose transparency in the pursuit of body.

Bass should not sacrifice speed and control in the pursuit of weight.

Resolution, density, speed, extension, space, and musicality should not exist in opposition to one another.

That is why we continually return to our true reference:

Real music and acoustic instruments.

A piano should retain its weight and harmonics.

A violin should reveal the strings, the bow, and the wooden body of the instrument.

A drum should reproduce impact, bounce, rebound, shell resonance, and natural decay.

A singer’s voice should preserve the age, body, breath, resonance, and emotion that belong to that individual.

True balance does not mean making all music sound the same.

It means allowing every kind of music to sound like itself.

More expensive materials necessarily mean better sound.

Materials, conductor dimensions, proportions, cable structures, twist pitches, directionality, transmission paths, and connector design must all ultimately return to Energy Balance.

There is no single best material. There is only the most suitable combination.

What we pursue is:

The right material. The right structure. The right balance.

Let materials serve the music, rather than making music showcase the materials.

From Philosophy to Product

MPSOURCE products do not begin with a specification sheet.

They may begin with a sonic question, or they may begin with the discovery of a new material, structure, or technology.

But wherever the starting point may be, everything must ultimately return to:

Music.

Design → Build → Listen → Refine → Rebuild → Compare Again

Because:

New does not necessarily mean better. Expensive does not necessarily mean closer to the music.

What we truly care about is:

Does this change make the music more natural, more complete, and closer to what it originally was?

Emerging from the earth and growing upward, it contains within its earliest life a force that continues to extend and evolve.

Pangu takes Wood as its symbol, representing the beginning of the MPSOURCE sonic world—

Natural, pure, and full of vitality.

Water

An extension beyond the foundation established by Pangu.

It further integrates the core technologies of MPSOURCE in pursuit of natural, fluid, and complete music reproduction.

Water follows its natural course, yet embraces all things.

It has no fixed form and flows naturally with its surroundings. It may appear gentle, yet within it lies a continuous and profound force.

Teana takes Water as its symbol, representing a musical state that is:

Entering the high-end realm of MPSOURCE.

Materials, structures, and overall tuning are taken further in pursuit of greater energy, density, control, and musical scale.
